Hello Spring ~*~

The scent of spring. Ruby red grapefruit. Pink peppercorn. Fresh bursts of sunlight breathing through the new morning.

Salut September!

What's kickin' it in fashion at the moment for me?

Mary-Kate Olsen is one. Plus faux fur pieces - like neck pieces (Russian style, like what I'm wearing right now) and especially vests with gorgeous fur hoods. I also like Karen Walker sunglasses - and the above modelled by Mary-Kate reminds me of Walker's current sunglasses style. (Above picture from Mary-Kate's shoot with Nylon magazine).

Inspiration workspaces with the aid of a wall collage - or what some people also like to call 'vision boards' - a board that is covered with pictures of things that encompass your dreams in life + soul's desires.

Garment racks: an excellent means of displaying your clothes and gaining clarity in managing your own wardrobe (which will be incredibly useful in assembling outfits).

The above two pictures are from Faux-Beau blog.

Street style + faux leather bags - more in the deep, shiny black vinyl sense. This picture was taken from the blog:

New Dangerfield Spring stock (cutesy tight body trim fit ~ floral and nineties-esque ala L7 era).

...and Diva & Lola Dompe because everything they do/wear is cool :D

No One's Better Sake

I just picked up my order, which was the self-titled album by Little Joy - a great band formed by Fab Moretti from the Strokes, Rodrigo Amarante from the Brazillian band Los Hermanos and Binki Shapiro. They sing such great tunes that remind me of feel-good summer times. They're good for bringing the summer sunshine to the harsh winter breeze! Check out a handful of their songs here.

Miss Coppola has been busy directing her new feature, 'Somewhere,' which stars the likes of some dude from Jackass as well as the little sister of Dakota Fanning. I thought I might pay a little tribute to one of the greatest directors of our time...

(Taken during her dad's Godfather glory days in her teens).

Classic & timeless Sofia, in her role Mary Corleone for Godfather 3.

(Picture from Nylon magazine - Sofia with partner, Thomas Marrs, lead singer of French pop outfit Phoenix; their daughter's name is Romy - named after Coppola's brother, Roman Coppola).

How to Be

Okay, I really want to see this.
Robert Pattinson's new movie - where he plays a bit of a dork - of course, the complete opposite to Edward Cullen. Nice to see him branching - hehe, it's worth quite a few chuckles:

Kristen Stewart

Love this footage from Nylon TV. Great backing tracks to go with.

P.S. And I simply adore the jacket Kristen is wearing at the end of the clip. I wonder where I could get one..?

The Art of Alain De Botton

De Botton is one of my new favourite things. Oh, I mean authors..! If only I were able to go to one of his talks while he toured Australia. Well there is always the School of Life blog and his collection of beautifully written books. He is perhaps my favourite modern-day philosopher. After having just read 'The Art of Travel,' I have just begun his new book entitled, 'The Pleasures and Sorrows of Work.'

Two Days in Paris

I watched this movie a little while ago now, but I remember it was a lot of laughs. Julie Delpy, who also stars in this film, both wrote and directed the movie. She even cast her own parents in the movie, to play her character's parents! A funny film, the kind that I usually wouldn't rent out, that pokes fun at the contrast between American and Parisian behaviours and ways of living. Tres bien!

Hedi Slimane

Great artist - often featured in Dazed & Confused.

Heck yes, CSS again!!!

CSS stands for 'Cansei De Ser Sexy' (not Cascading Style Sheets!!!), meaning "I'm tired of being sexy" in Portugese - [a reference to a Beyonce quote] - right.

I love them. I've been lucky enough to see them perform at 2am one fine New Years morning. I'm sure they're one of the coolest bands around - their Cyndi Lauper style guitar fills and licks are so lively & coooooool.

This video was directed by Keith Schofield & is a nice celebration of the now defunct polaroid.

Lovefoxx in love

Lovefoxx & Simon of the Klaxons probably deserve the award for the cutest couple ever.
She'll always be one of my favourite fashionista-trend-setters of this generation.

Music is my beach house. Music is my hometown.

An oldie but still one of my favourite goodies.

Scarlett Forever

I never properly listened to the debut album of Scarlett Johansson, "Anywhere I Lay My Head," until today and I'm not really sure why.
Her songs have a lovely dark eighties, slow-vibe sound to them - whilst her voice is subtley haunting yet beautiful leaving you with a sweet aroma as though awaking in the forrest beneath a small pile of bramble and leaves: alone and safe.

Listen to her sounds here.

Romance Was Born

Romance Was Born is the imaginative creative duo Anna Plunkett and Luke Sales who are home-grown from Australia. Beauty, tongue-in-cheek humour and a sense of charm with a whimsical nature are only some of the fun things that make this label so lovable.
(P.S: They famously turned down intern positions with designer Galliano!!!).

Going far beyond the expected, their eclectic mix of fashion quirks detail the sweet memories of a past love affair, intertwining the nostalgic bedtime stories that one was read to as a child and telepathically connect to the images of futuristic fashion.

Do go check their wondrous website here.

Vice magazine takes L'oreal Melbourne Fashion Week out into daylight.

Okay, so Vice magazine is possibly the biggest, most abruptly outspoken magazine in Australia (that I know of) with high potential to offend almost anyone at some point with their pranks + jokes & critiquing. As crude as they usually are, they probably should get a medal for some of their courageous feats - (that actually can make a person laugh out loud when at a computer at university, when they really should be immersed in their research on tiger-snakes in the Amazon). Take for example Vice's experiment on this week's Melbourne L'oreal Fashion Week (which kicked off on Sunday). Their scientific aim was to take "a few of our favourite looks from last year’s festival and hit the streets to see whether we could find evidence of the catwalk on the sidewalk." Check out their investigative report here.

I know I'm still laughing.
