Barry Lyndon/Marie Antoinette

Marie Antoinette (2007)

Barry Lyndon (1975)

I managed to see this amazing Kubrick film last night, Barry Lyndon (1975) and it immediately reminded me of Marie Antoinette (2007) by Sofia Coppola - which I love very much. I can see how Coppola may have become interested in that era due to all of the beautiful costumes and especially the landscapes in which the elitist, wealthy and privledged lived - also interior design.

Perhaps Barry Lyndon was a possible influence for Marie Antoinette..? Very, very cool.

A must see Kubrick.

Spring into Walker

The spring/summer collections of '08 can't seem to get enough of all things floral.
I can't get enough of Tim Walker. Here are some of his pictures that tell tales of timeless elegance and secret wonderlands.

2008 in retrospect . . . so far

The shops are already putting out their Christmas decorations on the shelves - do not be tricked into thinking it is the end of the year yet! There is still enough time to reflect on the great moments of the year. Some of my greatest moments have included:

Arcade Fire - Big Day Out.
Seeing Bjork!

Seeing Interpol for the second time in February.

Getting a kick out of the simpler things in life like craft and getting into more photography.

Discovering my dream interior.

Being a pilgrim at World Youth Day, making eye contact with the Pope and experiencing daytime fireworks at Randwick after the closing mass.

Seeing BAND OF HORSES live when they toured during Splendour (Really great show).

Watching re-runs of Gilmore Girls obsessively.

MGMT coming into existence.

I was recently contacted by the Sydney University's Law Society in regards to whether I wouldn't mind having some of my photographic work published in their annual women's rights journal, 'Yemaya.' I was flattered and immediately replied with an affirmative response.
They published four of my photos which each feature in my Noise profile online.

They are from my 'Rock-A-By' and 'Rose For An Eye' collections.

Che Day

On Tuesday, my first day back at uni, I visited our Co-Op bookshop on campus to soon discover a fantastic Che Guevara doll that was pleading me to take it home. So I did.

You can purchase your very own Shapespeare, Sigmund Freud or even Frida! Check out these dollies affectionately entitled, 'The Little Thinkers,' by the Unemployed Philsophers' Guild at their website as well as the other goods they have on offer. Trust me - they're worth a few chuckles :)

Back from the big week spent yonder . . .

I'm back from World Youth Day in Sydney and now home. I didn't get to do a lot of shopping whilst there (which I have no complaints about as it helped me experience a more authentic pilgrimage) but during the small amount of time we were given to roam the streets of Sydney's CBD, my friend & I discovered the dignified little tea shop off the Pitt Street Mall called, 'The Tea Centre,' at the last minute before re-joining our pilgrimage group! It is also known as, "The Glasshouse," and is so cosy!! They sell 180 different teas!! - Yum! :)
Here I bought a small tea box along with a little package of Cream tea; a black tea blend of caramel and vanilla.

There are several Tea Centres throughout New South Wales, Queensland and ACT. Check for stockists on their website; you can even order tea online!!! How cool!

I will definitely re-visit this shop to buy more tea if I am lucky enough to be in the same location as one.

World Youth Day was so amazing - more on that to come - as well as my mother's birthday, which was today!!! Hooray for my mum! I'm also jet-setting to Melbourne next week to see Band of Horses - but more on that much later. So much to post - so little patience! But for now, enjoy reading about exotic teas and learning about the benefits of tea on the Tea Centre website.

Carlos Dengler Official Website

Someone has been quite the busy beaver offstage from Interpol.

Carlos D's website is now up where you can indulge as well as keep up to date with his numerous musical and film sideprojects. It includes his collaborations with Carlos' young director friend, Daniel Ryan, such as their movie 'Golgotha' and their soon-to-be-released project, 'My Friends Told Me About You' (dir. by Ryan and produced by Dengler).

And oh my goodness, Carlos has even created an orchestrated version of 'Pioneer to the Falls,' which can be found on the site too (And, oh, how tremendous it is!).

P.s. His dog's name is Guyus!
